1967 Mustang Front Lower Control Arms Part # TBF-6 (Sold as a Pair)
1967-1970 Tubular Arms, Adjustable Strut Rods, Front End Parts 1967 Mustang Front Lower Control Arms Part # TBF-6 (Sold as a Pair)
Global West Suspension manufactures a tubular lower control arm for 1967 Mustangs. The arm contains a replaceable spherical bearing instead of a rubber or polyurethane bushing. The TBF-6 is powder coated black, fully assembled and is ready for installation right out of the box.
Rubber has a tendency to deflect during hard cornering and polyurethane restricts the arm from tilting as the suspension moves up and down.
Note: The tilt of the control arm comes from the strut rod. You want the lower arm to move freely without restriction but still remain in its intended path. The spherical bearing will do that.
The Global West Suspension: Front Lower Control Arms
In addition to the upgraded bushing, we also have a replaceable lower ball joint. With factory lower arms, when the ball joint wears out, you have to replace the entire control arm. In this case the only the ball is required. The lower ball joint is a standard Chrysler ball joint used in street cars as well as a favorite ball joint in stock cars. This ball joint can be serviced anywhere in the county.
During the design of this control arm, Global West choose to maintain the stock length. Making the arm adjustable creates problems with the geometry of the front end. It can make the alignment easier but the side effect are not worth it. Plus the arm is stronger without the adjustment.
Global West manufactures its control arms in house. The main tube is made out of 1 5/8 dom (drawn over mandrel) .125 wall material tubing. The twin side tubes are 1-inch .125 wall dom tubing. The arm is jig fitted during the machining process and during welding. As you can imagine, the arm is very strong compared to the factory arm. The control arm is a fixed length arm
