Global West sells spherical lower control arm bearing kits for the Firebird--model years 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002. If you are more aggressive and use the car for autocross, drag, or road racing, the next step would be to install Part # SP-7 bearing kit. This kit replaces the rubber bushings with spherical bearings.
One of the biggest complaints we hear from Camaro owners is front end wander. The deflection in the front lower control arm bushings especially in the rear creates this problem as it wears out. The rear lower control arm bushing deflects allowing the lower control arm to pivot in or out. Wander is created and handling is compromised
For street applications: We recommend using the following replacement bushings kit Part #2020. These replace the stock units and will get you back on the road again.
The bearings allow the control arm to move freely without deflection or bind. The advantage will be quick steering response, fast load transfer, and greater control over the alignment. This means small alignment adjustments go along way.
Global West Advantage: Benefits and Features:
- Bearing kit replaces the factory bushings.
- Spherical aircraft bearings allow smooth movement without bind.
- Bearings are Teflon lined so no grease fittings are needed.
- Kit controls alignment providing improved response and vehicle control.
- Maintains correct control arm length.
Note: welding is required with this kit.
