Global West Suspension manufactures a round tube subframe connector for the 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, and 1992 Camaro. The subframe (frame stiffener) is bent to follow the floor contour and install up next to the outer rocker rail. The unit welds into place at the firewall and rearward at the bulkhead next to the rear lower arm mount. The subframe spans the full length of the passenger compartment.
The 904 subframe tucks up tight along the inside of the outer rocker rail. This subframe cannot be seen once it is installed. The 904 also acts as a jacking rail so you can easily jack the car up for service. If you are installing a roll cage, the 904 is in the correct location for triangulating the cage directly to the subframe.
Note: In some cases the exhaust on the passenger side may need to be shortened or adjusted. A quick check to see if this is necessary is to measure the distance from the rocker rail over to the exhaust. If the distance is more than 1 3/4 inches, the subframe connector will clear. If the exhaust is closer, then you will have to shorten the straight portion of the exhaust pipe behind the front tire before the bend by one inch. None of the exhaust hangers will need adjusting.
- Subframes from Global West Suspension are powder coated black.
- Subframes are made from 1 5/8 x 0.125 wall DOM tubing
- Additional gussets are supplied with this kit.
- Zero ground clearance lost.
- Possible exhaust modifications are required - see Tech Tip.
Global West Tech Tip: #904 Requires 1 3/4 inches of clearance between the rocker rail and the exhaust pipe on the passenger side. The driver side is not an issue.
