Global West Suspension manufactures lower control arms that use coilover shocks (no spring pockets) for S-10 and 2WD Blazer trucks (model years 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002).
The arms are built strong able to support repeated wheel stands. Machined out of 1 5/8 x .125 DOM material, CNC mandrel bent and CNC machined for a precise fit. Close tolerances are maintained all through the build process that assures proper fit on your vehicle. In addition, all the arms are welded in a jig fixture. Tig and Mig welding processes are used depending on the location of the weld on the control arm. Note: These drag race lower control arms do not have sway bar attachments installed.
The arms are powder coated black; assembled with low friction ball joints, special low friction bushings from Global West and shipped pre-assembled.
Installing coilover shocks are easy compared to the conventional coil spring. Viking, QA-1, and Afco shocks are most
commonly used and bolt directly on. Global West also carries all the mentioned brands in stock for complete suspension packages.
There are no modifications to the frame. The spring is conical and installs in the frame just like the factory unit. The shock body is threaded and incorporates an adjusting collar that the spring rests on. Ride height is adjusted by moving the collar up or down on the shock. Note: The shock bolts to the top of the control arm, not from underneath.
Global West offers a complete line of coilover shocks and springs and big block and small block applications.
