Description
Global West Suspension offers several different leaf spring packages for 1964, 1965, and 1966 Mustangs.
This particular leaf is designed is superior for controlling wheel hop and is highly recommended for Mustangs with substantial horsepower. This spring is a reverse eye spring.
What are Reverse Eye Springs?
Reverse eye refers to how the spring eye is wound at the spring bushing location. The leaf is wound so the main leaf winds over the top of the leaf rather than from underneath. The combination allows use to lower the car 1-1/4 and beyond and still keep a positive arch. The spring rate is 150 pounds. The leaf is used for street performance, autocross and drag racing. The spring is capable of handling well into the 400 on the ground horsepower.
Also, 1968-1973 Mustangs can use this spring if you are looking for a little softer ride for the street. In regard to performance, it is still stiffer than stock.
Note: Leaf spring bushings are not included with the leaf springs. You can use stock, polyurethane, or Del-a-lum bushings. Global West recommends using Del-a-lum bushings part number 105sh for the best results. The Del-a-lum bushing eliminates lateral movement and has provisions for lubrication. The kit comes with front and rear leaf spring bushings, frame bushings and shackles.
Note: L-10R leafs lower the rear end 1-1/4 inches from stock ride height. L-10r-2 lowers the rear 2 inches. This does not necessarily mean from where your car is now. Often, the original leaves have sagged over the years so the measurement you are getting will not be accurate.
