(Small block or Big block)
Straight line performance for street applications is
emphasized. Adjustable front and rear shocks bridge the gap. The ride is fairly
soft so cornering is not superior. High-speed straight-line stability plus
rear leaf spring management is introduced.
This combination can be used for street or drag race applications.
It targets vehicle front-end response and rear end lateral control. Kit CTA-79A is highly
recommended for this application because the kit reduces bumpsteer. Bumpsteer is a
condition that occurs as the front of the vehicle raises, the wheels turn on there own
without driver input. This causes tire scrub and front end wander. Note:
Currently the stock upper control arms change the toe approximately 3/8 of an
inch per 1 inch of travel.
Kit CTA-79 drops it to 1/8 inch for the same amount of travel. Plus with 6 degrees of
caster built into the arm, achieving straight line stability is not a problem.
The benefits over stock are listed in the following areas:
- Provides high speed straight-line stability (6 degrees of caster).
- Improved toe curve (bumpsteer).
- Controls alignment by eliminating bushing deflection.
- Provides additional caster.
- Provides snap front suspension movement needed for weight transfer off the
line. (See Del-a-lum Bushings)
- Provides rear end lateral control.
- Chassis components such as Interloc bushings and sub-frames connectors provide
additional strength as well as faster load transfer.
- Lateral leaf spring movement is eliminated. Leaf spring shift can cause the vehicle to
drift right or left during launch.
Parts List:
- Tubular upper control arm kit fully loaded with Del-a-lum upper control arm bushings and
our new
billet cross- shafts. Part # CTA-79A..
- Del-a-lum lower control arm suspension bushings. Lower kit part # 1013.
- Option (Tubular lower control arms).
- Front springs (call for application)
- Koni shocks front. Note: We have changed shock combinations depending on various
factors. 80-1914 spa-1 Please call for assistance.
- QA-1 rear shocks Part # TC-1953P (mono leaf) Part # TC-1915P (multi leaf).
- Interloc subframe bushings Part # 800 (stock height) or Part # 801 (1/2 inch drop).
Note: If you plan on using subframe connectors as recommended. Use Kit 809
for stock height instead of kit 800 or use kit 819 instead of 801 for
the 1/2-inch drop applications.
- Sub-frame connectors Part # 900 (Camaro/Firebird non-convertible).
- Del-a-lum rear leaf spring bushings and shackle kit part # 103SH.
- L-2 rear springs.
Rear leaf springs Part # L-2 is designed to control spring rap up. They can be used for
all racing and performance applications. Traction bars are not required with these
springs. L-2 leaf springs lower the car 1-1/4 inches.
Recommended alignment settings for Drag race combination:
| Driver side |
Passenger side |
| Caster 6 degrees positive |
Caster 6 ½ degrees positive |
| Raise the car with a floor jack located at the
cross member ¾ of an inch. Set the camber to zero both sides. |
| Set toe to toe-in (1/32 total).
Set toe by pushing out on the front of the tires. Notice the deflection in the steering
system. There should be very little. The toe should measure 1/32 in (total) at this point.
